How to make a moist cake - 2009/05/04 03:59 Hi All,

Always on the search for that perfect cake, I came across the information as shown below. I found this very interesting and thought I will share it with you.

How to make a moist cake:

You can replace your oil or butter (or just half of it) with applesauce, or mashed bananas, or other fruit puree. My note: some people disagree with that and commented to add the full amount of oil or butter when adding fruit or puree.

You can add a package of dry pudding mix (use the same flavour as your cake mix, or something similar) to your batter.

You can add an extra egg or two.

You can add ½ cup of mayonnaise.

You can add ½ cup of water.

Most of these will not affect the flavour of your cake. (Bananas will, and some other fruits, but apples will not.)

Pudding, or eggs or mayo will make your cake a bit richer, but not change the taste.
Experiment with different options, or combine more than one. Just be careful never to over mix your cake once flour is added and don’t overcook your cake.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,
Biddy
