Something that I find increasingly difficult to manage with my daughter, Siena, who is nearly 5 years old, is her sweet tooth. Now, up until she was around 3 years old, she didn't know what a chocolate bar was, let alone icecream or lollies. Times have changed; she's been to a few birthday parties and slowly we have delved into the world of treats. In trying to keep it all moderate, I have a few rules. She wants treats every night after dinner. I make it every second night. Every second night she has fruit for dessert and always has fruit included in her breakfast. I also find fruit muffins make a great sweet treat, as long as they are wholemeal and fruit is used as the key sweetener.(Check out my sweet muffins on the Yummy Bubby recipes list at Good Recipes) Yoghurt with sultanas and toasted muesli is also a nice sweet snack that isn't too high in sugar and frozen bananas also work really well and are popular! Give these a go and let us know how you travel, by writing in. Until next month, Cath |
