Quite often, cafe's will offer up a fruit or banana smoothie - sounds healthy, but is it? Only if the smoothie is made with natural yoghurt, as opposed to vanilla yoghurt or icecream, which quite often is the case. Also, make sure no honey is added in, as the fruit should be 'sweet' enough. A baby cino, or "big girl/boy cino" is pretty harmless, unless it comes with marshmellows on the side; it's always a good idea to ask as it's usually morning time when these are ordered and once your toddler or child sees those marshmellows, there's no going back! Marshmellows for breakfast?? I don't think so. A healthy bran and fruit muffin is always good, although some have quite a lot of sugar in them. Again, you always ask how sweet they are. Hot Cross Buns at Easter are a good option too, as they are usually not too sweet. If you are unsure, wholemeal or multigrain toast with butter and some fresh jam makes a healthy, sweet treat.
